Join ARES!



The Montgomery County Amateur Radio Emergency Service® (ARES®), serves Montgomery County, Texas, and provides mutual aid to other ARES® groups in surrounding counties. Our mission is to provide dedicated volunteer federally licensed amateur radio operators to governmental, non-governmental and community agencies during times of emergency and disasters thereby increasing safety for and expediting the recovery process of the affected agencies and communities.



Weekly Net


Montgomery County ARES® holds a weekly net on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. The net uses the 147.020 (+ tone 136.5 Hz) repeater. The backup repeater is 147.140 (+ tone 136.5 Hz). Simplex back up is 146.560 Mhz.

We also accept digital check-ins begining at 7:00 pm continuing during the calling of the roster. Digital check-ins include:

Repeaters are used with permssion of the trustees Tommy Hayes N5PJY and Tom Butler N5KWN.

Monthly Simplex Test


On most months we conduct a simplex test to determine how well we can communicate on our back simplex frequency.

Monthly Meeting


Montgomery County ARES® meets the second Thursday of every month at 7:30 PM at the Lone Star Convention Center. (Date changes occasionally due to scheduling conflicts.) The address is 9055 FM 1484 Rd, Conroe, TX. Amateurs and non amateurs are invited to attend.
